Axona safety
Axona provides a safe way to enhance memories and thoughts in some people with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease*1
It’s comforting to know that the majority of side effects associated with Axona were mild, and there are strategies to reduce the chance of them happening (please see full prescribing information).
Some people who have taken Axona experienced mild gastrointestinal side effects (such as gas, bloating, heartburn, or diarrhea), especially when they first began taking it. The best way to reduce the potential for side effects is to start slowly to help the body adjust to Axona. A free Axona Patient Starter Kit is available from your doctor to make it easy to get started the right way.
Over-the-counter remedies for gas, heartburn, or diarrhea can also be helpful. If side effects are persistent, speak to your doctor.
It’s also good to know that all Axona ingredients are Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) or food additives approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
